Separate is Never Equal submitted by poptart887 on August 2, 2020, 7:34pm This book takes place in California in the 1940s. Sylvia is of Mexican decent. Sylvia and her brothers were not allowed to go to the public school because they were Mexican. Her family fought for integration and won twice! This book is great, it sparked a conversation with my preschoolers!
