holiday fun submitted by fairytale on August 3, 2013, 8:27am While I adore the Pet the Cat series, this wasn't my favorite Pete the Cat book. The story seemed a lot like many other books where someone steps up to save Christmas.

Pretty Standard Story submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 10:48am This is a simple story about Pete the Cat filling in for Santa Claus during Christmas Eve, and the characters’ charm makes up for some fundamental flaws in the story and the writing. The words are pleasantly rhythmic and generally follow the traditional “Night Before Christmas” poem, but the text has a few clunky sections that don’t easily flow off of the tongue at the reader’s first pass; it’s an excellent read-aloud option in theory, but those doing the reading may want to go through a practice one depending on how forgiving the potential audience is. I love the blocky, organic paintings and the book’s general style, but I wish the story was just a little more interesting.
