Amazing! submitted by racoonacon1236 on June 18, 2011, 6:56pm Artemis fowl is probably one of my favorite books. I am 12 years old, and I have a list of books that I re-read at the start of every school year. This list fluctuates but Artemis Fowl has made the list for four years in a row. I own the book and will read it many more times. Even thought we all know this is a fantasy story, while you are reading it is hard not to believe everything is possible and or true. I think throughout the series the characters' personalities are developed greatly, and they form some unexpected relationships. After I read this book for the first time, I couldn't decide If I wanted to be Captain Holly Short, or Artemis, but I knew that I wanted to be a part of the story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone between the ages of 8 and 13. I hope that anyone who read this will continue with the series, as it only gets better.

Awesome submitted by mysterio on June 19, 2011, 12:02pm Awesome

Love this series submitted by 0liviap0pp on June 22, 2011, 3:55pm The Artemis Fowl series is not only entertaining but extremely cool. It recalls the life of a criminal mastermind and his adventures.

Artemis Fowl submitted by faiyafrower on June 25, 2011, 5:18pm This first book really got me hooked onto this series. It is well done and is a must-read for anyone that enjoys science fiction.

good submitted by 15redwings on June 28, 2011, 9:06am good great

Great submitted by tree64 on July 1, 2011, 6:06pm Great book! Not the best in the series, but good enough that I read the rest of the series that are out so far. Interesting

A Must Read submitted by Commander Taffy on July 7, 2011, 4:43pm The Artemis Fowl series is awesome, and this book is the best in the series. With most books you know that the side with the main character on it will win, but with this book there is a main character on both sides, so what will happen? It is also nice that one of the main characters is a prodigy, it gets annoying when being smart is often portrayed in books a s being useful, but not as important.

Epic submitted by susanlam on July 22, 2011, 3:48pm This story was really, really interesting and kept me turning pages to see what came next. I'm new to the Artemis Fowl series, but people have been recommending it for years and now I see why. The story involves a race of fairies who live in a maze of tunnels underground, the only place the humans haven't found yet. Artemis Fowl is a 12-year-old criminal mastermind who has one goal: restoring his family name by acquiring lots of wealth. To do this, he will target the fairies and their stash of gold. The story is told from two different viewpoints, so that you can't help but sympathize with the characters on both sides of the conflict. A must-read for fans of fantasy, sci-fi, or fairy tales.

Possibly My New Favorite Series! submitted by isaacbrooks on February 22, 2012, 10:25am When I first started this book, I thought it was going to be some old book about a boy robbing a bank, but oh, no! definitely not. Artemis Fowl is my new favorite series about deception, adventure, and buff guys mowing down the Mafia in Russia!

Artemis Fowl submitted by Smiles on June 15, 2012, 1:54pm Artemis is trying to get back his family fortune--the one his dad destroyed--back and he starts by finding a magical being. Artemis captures a fairy, Holly, and demands her gold. Unfortunately, fairies are much stronger that imagined and fought back with trolls, technology, and bombs.

Amazing Book submitted by Bookbird on June 15, 2012, 4:58pm This book combines modern with fairy world, where fairies use technology more advanced than humans. So advanced humans are called "Mud People". Artemis is a boy genius who learns about fairy gold and tries to get some in order to rebuild his family's fortune with it. Unfortunately, the fairies chose to lay siege to his home instead of paying.

Great submitted by Memoria1224 on June 28, 2012, 7:32pm This is really good. I was surprised that the main character was a criminal.

Unbelivable! submitted by shalinigurl on July 3, 2012, 9:38pm This book is so great cause you don't know who to root for! Artemis the criminal? but from Artemis' point of view he doesn't make the whole concept very criminalish! or Holly the victim who you definitely want to be saved! It is so good that a library in my school ran out of these books cause so many people wanted to read it, and there were 10 copies! It is really good and you have to read it!

Great submitted by HY Qiu on July 22, 2012, 11:46am Great series.

Amazing submitted by Zhengyang1022 on July 27, 2012, 10:51am This book was one of my favorite books in the Artemis Fowl Series, and I think everyone should read this book.

Well worth reading submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 20, 2012, 11:18am Although written for teens, adults will also enjoy all Eoin Culfer books. Culfer creates Artemis Fowl as a know-it-all super-smart ultra-rich kid who doesn't face the same limitations as us meer mortals, but this is in part to mock novels that really do create such characters in seriousness.
I love the tough Captain Holly Short and her drive to solve the problems herself, no matter how small she is. I also find the centaur computer geek hilarious.

(By the way, one pronounces Eoin as "Ian.")

Awesome submitted by brianwu on June 7, 2013, 4:50pm Not too bad for the first book in the series.

great submitted by Franklin123 on June 29, 2013, 5:48pm some times hard to understand

not as it first appears... submitted by camelsamba on July 11, 2013, 6:08pm I tried to read (or maybe listen to?) this once, a few years ago - I didn't even get through the first chapter before I gave up. When the 9yo asked me to read it to him, I was not enthusiastic - until Holly entered the book, and I realized the plot is not at all what I thought. Not sure if we'll read more in the series, but I thought it was fun (although a bit too much - gore, villainy, whatever - at times).

Really good submitted by kathscot on July 21, 2013, 8:45pm Artemis is a very interesting character, because he is a mix of bad and good characteristics.
Don't bother to translate the runes across the bottom of the pages.

miss banana peel submitted by miss banana peel on August 3, 2013, 7:26pm This whole series blows my mind!

Great Start to the Series submitted by xiwang on December 20, 2013, 8:43pm A good jump start to a magnificent series. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an action packed yet light read. The author does stretch the book a little though.

Great, but... submitted by jonathancvielmetti on June 23, 2015, 4:10pm The book is really good, but if you start at a later book in the series like I did it won't be as good.

One of my favorite books. submitted by SolaireFQ on August 27, 2016, 11:44am This book is hilarious and has such great characters. Get ready for some interesting fairies!

Lightweight submitted by FordAlpha on August 2, 2018, 3:28pm "Artemis Fowl" is a bit of lightweight fun. It's engaging, a page-turner, a summer read without any real depth. I was very off-put by the poor copy-editing and by the author's often clumsy syntax. Don't look here for elegant writing. Most of the characters are obnoxious most of the time.

Good Read submitted by granumm on August 4, 2018, 2:30pm A gripping children's crime thriller with a healthy dose of magic.

Amazing! submitted by SakanaUshi on June 16, 2019, 5:56pm My mom gave it to me to read one weekend when I was bored. I spent most of my week with my nose stuck in it. Amazing!

Re read it with talk of a movie... submitted by tbbrown76 on July 15, 2019, 10:40pm Still fun, and silly and a page turner. I love the butler named Butler.

Great submitted by zmclaugh on July 16, 2019, 9:45pm A really good book. Funny, with a great take on fairies.

Still holds up submitted by ckay15 on July 28, 2019, 12:11am I read this when I was 7 years old and have reread it several times over the last 15 years. The humor, characters, and exciting storytelling still hold up. Perfect for any age!

Great Series submitted by slugwhisperer on August 21, 2019, 10:55pm Entertaining read and wonderful audio-book.

It submitted by Anthany on August 8, 2020, 12:26am Stall read it
