Fun for An Almost-Reader submitted by Sara W on July 10, 2017, 10:40am Very charming and simple story - the use of a flashlight to "highlight" the story elements as they take place is brilliant. My almost-reader enjoyed narrating the story for himself and laughed out loud as he noticed patterns emerging among the activities of the wildlife. Highly recommended!

A Neat Visual Idea submitted by Meginator on June 15, 2023, 11:05pm This charming wordless picture book follows a young child as they explore the area around their campsite with a flashlight, illuminating small glimpses of the local plant and animal life. The format invites readers to explore along with the main character, offering ample opportunities to find hidden details in the black-and-white portions of the illustrations, and the shocks of color against the dark background create an excellent illusion of light that emphasizes how much nocturnal life thrives during the times when many humans are asleep. I did find the book a bit repetitive after a while, with nothing really new to explore despite a slight narrative twist, but readers who enjoy learning about nature and who enjoy interactive reading experiences should really love it.
