Thinly disguised BDSM porn for women submitted by marielle on June 29, 2011, 6:43pm My friend got me this book for my 19th birthday, and when she gave it to me she said "I hated this book but I think you'll really like it."

Phèdre is an indentured servant whose mains tasks include prostitution involving some pretty hardcore masochism, and a little bit of spying along the way. But don't worry, it's okay, it's like in the service of some god or something. Really, she's just being devout.

I enjoyed this book but I wouldn't bother with the sequels.

The representation is great. The sex was a bit explicit for my personal taste, but that's for each reader to determine on their own.

Kushiel's Dart submitted by ArsenicAngel on June 30, 2018, 12:21pm A well written novel with a politically driven plot line. The book takes you from noble's bedchambers to the harsh winter camp of invading barbarians.

Some BDSM concepts and sex enter into the novel. Way better written and portrayed than 50 Shades as consent is paramount and always honored in the Kushiel's Legacy series. I highly recommend this book and its sequels to people interested in a political plot, court intrigue, and espionage.

That being said, if you enjoyed the political intrigue and style of books in the Game of Thrones series, you will probably like this series as well.
