I dare you not to drool submitted by richardsm on June 19, 2013, 4:25pm Her recipes aren't always my favorite, but the photos are amazing and completely drool worthy. My favorite thing about Ms. Perelman's cookbook is that it is great at providing me with the inspiration to use what materials I already have at home, or to spice up an old standard.

Cookbook submitted by SBNB on July 31, 2013, 6:49pm It has some good recipes. I especially like her baked goods.

great submitted by kforrester on June 20, 2014, 1:53pm gr8

Lovely. submitted by jbpuckett on June 17, 2016, 2:56pm I enjoy Deb's blog, so it was a no brainer that I was going to love the book.

I've been working my way through it for months - just have to finish before it gets recalled!

Good book submitted by vulke99 on August 18, 2017, 8:58pm Great recipes! My family loved these.

Loved this cookbook! submitted by fairytale on June 17, 2018, 9:32pm I really enjoyed this cookbook and have checked it out more than once!

Inspiration submitted by teri on July 10, 2018, 11:35am I often look at the Smitten Kitchen blog, which led me to this book.
Cooking and baking are some of my favorite things to do - and this book was a natural. Perelman often takes a classic and adds her own personal twist (plum poppy seed muffins, iceberg stack with blue cheese and radishes), which inspires the experienced cook to do the same - and offers those new to cooking to discover something a little out of the ordinary. Great photos and fun dialogue.

good blog, good cookbook submitted by bec on August 7, 2018, 1:56pm For fans of the Smitten Kitchen blog and newcomers alike- plenty of new recipes, and they're reliably delicious and low-angst to make.

Old-fashioned and Traditional submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on August 4, 2020, 11:07pm A very old-fashioned traditional, no-messing-around cookery book

this books works really well is that it complements the way that Deborah Perlman herself writes this is sort of Jewish kind of edge to the cooking traditional family food kind of New York there's a baking section but they covers all those different meals

It is wonderful kind of family food but she writes beautifully about it why you want to eat when you're suffocating hot or in love or whatever this really works as a cookery book

Her First Book submitted by cdeucher on June 24, 2023, 2:31pm I had long been a fan of Deb's blog, so of course I was going to get this book. I love her chatty style and she makes you be fearless in trying new recipes. There have been a few that I couldn't make again but for the most part I love these recipes and share and cook them frequently.

A fast favorite submitted by khrobinson on July 28, 2023, 10:50pm I read this cover to cover like a book and have enjoyed working through the recipes. Lots of trusty delicious classics.

A solid start submitted by JJM.Deucher on August 21, 2023, 5:39am Her first book was great when it came out, but her most recent cook book is far superior. If you're buying one I'd skip this one, but worth a checkout from the library!
