The Queen of Mystery has come to Harper Collins! Agatha Christie, the acknowledged mistress of suspense--creator of indomitable sleuth Miss Marple, meticulous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, and so many other unforgettable characters--brings her entire oeuvre of ingenious whodunits, locked room mysteries, and perplexing puzzles to Harper Paperbacks. In the Christie classic Peril at End House, a young woman who has recently survived a series of very close calls appears to be the target of a dedicated killer--and it's up to Hercule Poirot to save her life.

characters not very likeable submitted by camelsamba on August 12, 2018, 10:27pm I have been listening to all the Poirot stories at BBC Radio adaptations (available for audiobook download through AADL and MCLS). With many of these adaptations, I end up starting over as soon as it ends. I didn't feel the need to do that for Peril at End House. I just didn't care about the characters all that much by the end of the story - they weren't very likable, and their concerns did not interest me.
Another Excellent Twist from the Master submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 9:47am After a couple of so-so outings for the famed (as he’ll remind you constantly) Hercule Poirot, Agatha Christie rounds back into form with this book. The backwards setup (here, Poirot attempts to foil a crime-in-progress rather than solving a previously committed murder) and unusual solution give the book a fresh feeling, although the end is a bit more somber than Poirot’s outings usually are. A young cast of characters provides a contrast to the previous Poirot books even if none of them are particularly likeable, and the clever deviations from the detective novel norm kept me hooked until the end. Some of the clues felt a bit obvious, insofar as certain details felt like they simply had to factor in somehow, but while I did correctly identify several important clues and figure out who the culprit was (a rarity for me), the full solution eluded me until Poirot explained it. This gave the book a different sort of tension for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it even though it probably isn’t a top-tier Poirot adventure in the grand scheme of things.
