Surprisingly light read despite subject matter submitted by legalmama on July 11, 2017, 9:42pm After the main character accidentally causes the death of his own children, and then loses his marriage, he is numb and grieving for the first half of the book, when he begins caretaking for a teenage boy with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The details of the road trip of the second half of the book are unexpected -- more unexpected is the crush of emotion that comes with the narrator's coming to terms with his new reality.
