COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Rare Disorder submitted by obrien1988 on August 17, 2016, 6:08pm Interesting book centered around a rare disorder.

Not a favorite, and the back blurb didn't match the book submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 12, 2021, 9:10pm I know that the author doesn’t write the back cover blurb, but the blurb was the reason I bought this book, and it was completely misleading. This really isn’t a book about a family with a child with a genetic disorder (40% of the blurb), it’s a book about an adult family full of dysfunctional family members, one of whom happens to have a genetic disorder. That’s a very different thing.

This book was OK, but really didn’t capture my attention. I read it on Kindle, and at 44% of the way through it, I seriously debated putting it down. Each family member is fairly one-dimensional, with a single characteristic or perspective defining nearly every interaction with nearly every other character they encounter (birth family, family of choice, coworkers, friends, etc.). Until, that is, *every single one of them* has a moment of revelation and grows… right at the end of the book.

It wasn’t a bad book. I just wanted more.
