Good in Conjunction with Other Guides submitted by Meginator on August 29, 2020, 1:31pm This is a standard pregnancy book with an added focus on subjects of interest to queer women. Pepper’s take on the medical establishment is a relatively cynical one (though she does at least make an effort to be even-handed), but much of her advice feels personal and carefully considered. Also, the legal landscape, however, has changed drastically since this book’s publication in 2005; proceed with caution there and be sure to check the current landscape before making decisions. Along with a standard trimester-by-trimester guide to pregnancy, Pepper offers a lengthy discussion of the decisionmaking process prior to conception, as well as different options for conceiving. Overall, this guide is a useful supplement to other literature on the topic, without some of the detail of the week-to-week guides but with an alternate perspective that is a nice change of pace from the aggressively heterosexual nature of most work on the subject.
