After his last run-in with the fairies, Artemis Fowl's mind was wiped of memories of the world belowground and any goodness grudgingly learned is now gone, with the young genius reverting to his criminal lifestyle.
Artemis has no memory of the fairy people and has returned to his unlawful ways. In Berlin, he is preparing to steal a famous Impressionist painting from a German bank. He doesn't know that his old rival, Opal, has escaped from prison by cloning herself. She's left her double behind in jail and, now free, is exacting her revenge on all those who put her there, including Artemis. Meanwhile in the lower elements, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrechon fairy police is framed for a heinous crime, yet she manages to elude her captors and escape to the surface to rescue Artemis. But before Holly and Artemis can get away, Opal arrives and abducts them both, forcing Artemis to go head to head with an enemy who plans on destroying the fairy world forever.

Awesome submitted by mysterio on June 19, 2011, 12:04pm Awesome

The Opal Deception submitted by 0liviap0pp on June 25, 2011, 8:10am This is one of my favorite books of the Artemis Fowl series. I think it's a clever title. Opal Koboi and the Koboi Laboratories are planning revenge, and Artemis does not have any memory of his adventures and misadventures with the fairies.

Great series submitted by faiyafrower on June 25, 2011, 5:24pm This book was a great follow up; the last thing we expected was Opal Koboi coming back and as always, Artemis' ingenuity was exciting to follow.

good submitted by 15redwings on June 28, 2011, 9:04am good great awesome

GOOOOOOOOOOOOD submitted by aju on July 12, 2011, 9:01pm Awesome book

The Opal deception submitted by Smiles on June 15, 2012, 12:21pm The mastermind Artemis Fowl just had his memory wiped and is now as greedy as ever! The dangerous fairy, Opal Koboi, has just escaped and is coming after Artemis in hopes of finally destroying him.Very suspenseful and good book.

One Of The Best submitted by Commander Taffy on June 19, 2012, 8:16pm I have to say that along with book one and two, this is one of the best. It is always really fun to read about Artemis Fowl matching wits with another genius.

Good submitted by Memoria1224 on June 28, 2012, 7:55pm This book is very good. Opal Koboi came back and Artemis matched wits with another genius.

one of my favorites submitted by shalinigurl on July 3, 2012, 2:28pm I write one of my favorites for all the books because well they are all so good, it's hard to decide which is my favorite so I call them all my favorite! This is such a good book and I wonder how Opal looks as a human? I can't believe how simple yet complex her plan was, absolute genius! but nothing compared to Artemis as he saves the day again, GO ARTEMIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great submitted by Zhengyang1022 on July 27, 2012, 10:54am This book okay, and in this book Opal Koboi tries to take revenge on Artemis, and Artemis has to defeat Opal (again).

Fabulous submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 20, 2012, 1:03pm I'm so glad Eoin Colfer has continued Artemis Fowl and Holly Short's adventures! Although written for teens, adults will also love this series. I especially appreciate the strong female characters, good and evil. In this book we begin to see Artemis grow up a bit and care about someone besides himself and about something more than just growing his already tremendous wealth.
(By the way, one pronounces Eoin as "Ian.")

Great submitted by brianwu on June 7, 2013, 4:54pm So far I think that this is the best book in the series.

Great submitted by lec.dank on June 23, 2013, 7:30pm Awesome

Fav submitted by Bookbird on July 24, 2013, 10:34pm This is one of my favorite books in the Artemis Fowl series. So much happens here! You have trolls, possible discovery by humans, lots of action.

Spectacular submitted by miss banana peel on June 15, 2014, 2:12pm A great addition to the riveting Artemis Fowl series

Intense submitted by zmclaugh on July 8, 2019, 7:23pm The series takes a turn here, in content, if not in tone.
