von Igelfeld is endearing submitted by thekevinquinn on January 21, 2007, 11:32pm Alexander McCall Smith's stories about the pre-eminent romance philologist, Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld are full of humor, irony, and humorous irony. If after reading Portuguese Irregular Verbs, you decide you want to know what else happens to von Igelfeld, you should read the other two installments, The Finer Points of Sausage Dogs and The Villa of Reduced Circumstances. I recommend reading all of them.
charming submitted by dekeyzerc on July 26, 2013, 1:16pm A wonderful mix of humor, intelligence, and warmth.
Academic hilarity submitted by willow on August 31, 2015, 6:36am Moritz-Maria Von Igelfeld is a strange and self-absorbed academic who, as the author of a thick volume on Portuguese irregular verbs, is certain that he's made a tremendous gift to humanity. As such, he has a series of bizarre encounters, which often result in the reader laughing at him.
