identity and relationships
submitted by camelsamba on July 20, 2017, 10:23pm
I got the audiobook via overdrive for my phone because it was "available now". As such, I had no preconceptions about it. I was not familiar with the author and didn't really see the cover that misleads some reviewers into expecting something else. And I didn't realize it was sometimes promoted as "a mystery."
And with no preconceptions, I enjoyed it. There was a period when I felt a sense of sinister foreboding, but it was replaced relatively quickly by a sense that a more 'ordinary' tragedy had occurred.
Questions of identity. Strong relationships. Un-ordinary family structures. Nice friendship between Sam and Caroline. Good middle grades and teen fiction.
