COMMUNITY REVIEWS

TW for sexual violence, but an excellent book submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 16, 2022, 10:28pm Holy hell, Batman, trigger warnings for sexual violence. If you’re ready for that, though, this was a hard-hitting story about desperation, poverty, and ways out, whether that’s drugs, love, or violence. It was difficult, and beautiful. I’ve worked in enough soup kitchens (some in extremely poverty-ridden neighborhoods) that this rings true to my ears (and if you look at the author’s history, it comes from his truth for sure). This book will challenge most people’s view of needs and wants, of love and truth, of choice and consequence, of right and wrong. It sticks in my head and heart.
