"An epic love story and family drama set at the dawn of World War II"--Provided by publisher.
"Viann and Isabelle have always been close despite their differences. Younger, bolder sister Isabelle lives in Paris while Viann lives a quiet and content life in the French countryside with her husband Antoine and their daughter. When World War II strikes and Antoine is sent off to fight, Viann and Isabelle's father sends Isabelle to help her older sister cope. As the war progresses, it's not only the sisters' relationship that is tested, but also their strength and their individual senses of right and wrong. With life as they know it changing in unbelievably horrific ways, Viann and Isabelle will find themselves facing frightening situations and responding in ways they never thought possible as bravery and resistance take different forms in each of their actions"--Provided by publisher.

Incredible submitted by emaelshaikh on August 31, 2016, 12:31pm Reeling from All the Light We Cannot Say, I dove into this book--and was not disappointed. It is powerful and riveting.

Enjoyable submitted by indecisivenerd on June 24, 2018, 6:15pm This was the first of Kristin Hannah's books that I had read. I think the characters are wonderful, and I recommend this book to anyone who loves historical fiction.

Good, but maybe overhyped? submitted by irksit on June 27, 2018, 10:33am I read this right after my first Kristin Hannah, The Great Alone. I liked that book better. Maybe this one just wasn’t my cup of tea. I mean, I enjoyed it, and it made me cry, but it didn’t live up to the hype in my opinion.it was kind of slow and a little unbelievable.

Engaging submitted by bethhubbel on July 9, 2018, 7:59am This story was captivating and held my attention. The viewpoint of the characters and how they moved through the stress in their lives, how they grew close and moved apart was well done.

Fantastic read submitted by admaclean on July 21, 2018, 11:05pm Captivating tale of survival in an unimaginable time.

Incredible submitted by Cihendricks on August 8, 2018, 11:28am This book is hard to read at times, but it is utterly beautiful. It’s a reminder that we need to allow our hearts to be broken at times so we can better understand life and better love the world around us.

Book submitted by Clown81 on August 31, 2019, 5:05pm Engaging.

Second time is a charm submitted by leah karr on June 14, 2023, 9:53pm I tried to read this book a few years ago and just didn’t get into it. But after reading The Great Alone and Four Winds last year I decided to give it another try. I’m so glad I did. I spent a few days becoming fully enveloped by this story. It’s beautiful and tragic and stays with you.
