comprehensive submitted by jayin on July 17, 2012, 12:07pm This is a comprehensive guide for knitting. Nothing too exciting, but a good basic overview.

Like a graduate level knitting textbook submitted by crwilley on June 14, 2013, 9:01am Principles of Knitting has got to be just about the most comprehensive book of knitting technique ever written. It is absolutely not the book you want to learn to knit from - but if you're an experienced knitter looking for instructions on how to do some obscure technique, it's in here. The book has a few quirks: Hiatt decided that "front" and "back" meant too many things in knitting jargon and came up with new terms for a few of them (e.g. instead of "knit front and back" to increase, you will "knit nearside and farside"), and information is not necessarily in the chapter you might think it would be in - you will make more use of the index than the table of contents. The diagrams are very clear, and once you figure out the nearside/farside thing, so are the written instructions.
