Boooooo submitted by jjdijkstra81 on August 22, 2011, 5:30pm I began to read it on a recommendation and behold- it was a bunch of crap. Scattered all over the place, pointless, mumbo jumbo. Had to stop reading it.

Funny and sad at the same time submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 28, 2012, 11:39am As someone who also endured speech therapy as a child I can sympathize with the sadness author David Sedaris indirectly describes about being a child with a lisp in 1960s North Carolina and how it turned him into a social outcast.

Now an openly gay writer and "This American Life" contributor, Sedaris brings us lots of funny stories about his life that nonetheless have a subtle social commentary.

Funny guy submitted by markwells on November 23, 2012, 5:09pm This guys stuff makes me laugh out loud and thats not easy to do. Nuff said.

Hilarious submitted by KOH on August 30, 2017, 9:24pm This is one of his best! So so funny.

Funny based in reality submitted by purchasingqueen on June 17, 2018, 4:51pm All truly funny things are based on reality. Sedaris tells stories of his life, some funny, some funny/sad, that are based on his actual life. And, he has had a VERY colorful life.

Yeah, it’s a good one submitted by jucruz on July 13, 2019, 7:52pm My first David Sedaris, and now I get why everybody likes him. HIs stories are so charming and humble, and I can’t smell a whiff of pretentiousness in them, unlike some *other* inexplicably popular authors *cough cough JSF*

Laugh out load submitted by NhuDo on August 30, 2019, 3:40pm This book will make your laugh until you cry. It’s hysterically funny and smart!

Hilarious submitted by dailyreader on July 22, 2023, 2:25pm The stories are laugh out loud funny. I appreciate the vulnerability of Sedaris as he shares his experiences.
