Good third book in a good trilogy
submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 27, 2023, 9:11pm
Wow, there is a LOT of time devoted to describing buildings in this book. Typically, by the time a reader gets to the third book in a series, there isn’t as much left to describe in exhaustive detail, because the world is already in place. This time, there were “new” buildings to be expounded on, repeatedly, in excruciating detail. In those blocks, I wondered if there was any *story* to tell.
But there was, and I did love the story once again. This is a rich and extensive trilogy of Mogul India, and I’m very pleased to have read it. I was invested in the many characters, and the author did a good job providing enough information to help me keep them straight (no small task in such an epic work). The combination of personal lives and court politics was fascinating. Overall, I very much enjoyed the third book and the trilogy as a whole.
