Some think he is just a comic. submitted by tbbrown76 on August 3, 2014, 8:56pm But he is quite the musician, too. Nice book. Fun and funny.
I liked it submitted by Zekicmom on July 8, 2019, 8:15pm A really thoughtful, introspective and humorous telling of Steve Martin's early years and journey through stand-up comedy told by the comic himself. It's a quick read with great accompanying photos. I will be recommending it to any Steve Martin fans I know.
Read Sitting Down submitted by CJBO on May 26, 2023, 6:58pm Steve Martins’ thoughtful and well-written book gives a peek behind the curtain to his fortunate Disneyland beginnings and explores the time and work he put into his act before finding success on SNL and the big stage. Persistence and practice in place of talent was one tidbit from Martin that I enjoyed. Another was his lurid description of Linda Ronstadt’s short lame dress at the Troubador night club in 1970s L.A. I recommend this book not only to fans of Martin but those who are in search of creative lives, even ones practicing short-hand magic and banjo strumming.
