Past Reappears: Catching the eye of many persons in the Huron-Main Sts. Area is this "Savings Bank Block" sign cut into stone on the side of a building at the northwest corner of the streets. The original sign, at least part of it, was revealed when the "Municipal Court Building" sign was removed in connection with remodeling of the building. Missing from the original sign is a top line that read, "Ann Arbor." The building once was the location of the former Ann Arbor Savings Bank, which was merged into the present Ann Arbor Bank. Banking in the building ended in 1936.

Downtown Modernization: The Municipal Court Building at W. Huron and N. Main Sts. Downtown has a new appearance on its Huron side. The three-story structure is being refaced with a fireproof glass-topped material in blue and white. The modernization project is eliminating all "gingerbread" projections on the building in favor of the "curtain-wall" material. The building is getting new aluminum windows, new entries and first-floor store fronts of similar finish material. Despite the name of the building, the city's Municipal Court is now in the City Hall.

Trust Firm Acquires Properties: These six business properties between 111 and 123 W. Huron St. have been leased or purchased by the Ann Arbor Trust Co. for an off-street parking lot and "possible" future expansion. The properties, on the south side of W. Huron St. extend from an alley at the rear of the Ann Arbor Building (in background) to Ashley St. (in foreground).

What A Wreck: A wrecking crew demolishes the old Detroit Edison offices to make way for a company parking lot. The building, located at the Main and E. William Street, was built around 1912. Edison employees have new offices down the street, at 425 S. Main St.
