Ann Arbor Police Officer Leonard Straka Issues Ticket to City Council President A. D. Moore, June 1955
Year:
1955
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, June 1, 1955
Caption:
Council President Ticketed: A. D. Moore, president of the City Council and a University professor, this morning was issued a city police ticket for failure to have a 1955 bicycle license on his two-wheeler. Moore had bought one but failed to put it on. Patrolman Leonard Straka (left), spotted the violation, stopped Moore as he rode south on S. Fifth Ave. and issued the summons. Afterwards, Straka asked him, "We would have a pretty poor police department and I would be a mighty poor officer if we made exceptions, wouldn't we?" Said Moore, "You're right. Thank you."
