Drop by the Traverwood Branch this Saturday, July 25, from 2-3pm to Make Your Own Frisbee. Dave Morris and others from the Ann Arbor Ultimate Frisbee League will be on hand to show you some smooth frisbee moves that you can try yourself! This program is designed for kids grades k-5.

Aikido - An Introductory Workshop

Our family camp-in includes a camp fire, songs, stories, games, and sand painting.
No camping experience is complete without those ooey gooey s'mores. We'll have those, too.

Culture of Struggle, Culture of Faith: A Juneteenth Event Featuring LaRon Williams

Join celebrated storyteller LaRon Williams at Traverwood on Friday June 19 at 6pm as he commemorates Juneteenth, the oldest celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the U.S. Browse our collection of Juneteenth books here, including Ralph Ellison's Juneteenth, which deals with the holiday and its traditions.

The Spirit of Tea

Learn more about the history of the most widely consumed beverage in the world (after water) when author Frank Hadley Murphy comes to the Traverwood Branch on Thursday, May 14 at 7 pm to discuss his book The Spirit Of Tea. Ann Arbor’s own Tea Haus will be there, with samples of tea to try, and the event will include a book signing with books on sale, courtesy of Shaman Drum Bookshop. This event is co-sponsored by the Ann Arbor Book Festival.

Go! Strategy Board Game

Learn to play the board game Go or test your skills against members of the University of Michigan Go Club. Players of any skill level can enjoy Go. Saturday, April 25, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Traverwood Branch/AADL, all ages are welcome.

If you need to brush up on the basics, check out Go Basics or Go for Beginners. The US Go Association is a great source for Go-related links and resources. The U-M Go Club regularly meets at the Espresso Royale Cafe at State Street and North University, 7-11 Thursdays and 1-5 on Sundays.
