Ready, Set, Play! The new off-leash dog play area at Olson Park is officially open and ready for man's best friend. Don't forget to stop by the City Clerk's Office and pick up an annual Off-Leash Dog Permit before letting 'em rip at the park.

CTN Camcorder Class

User manuals make great doorstops. If you really want to learn how to use a gadget, hands-on is the only way to go. Luckily, CTN agrees and is offering How to Get the Most Out of Your Camcorder", a personalized instruction class on Monday, October 26th, 6 - 9 p.m. at CTN Studios. The class is $10 and will cover functions and features of your camcorder, how to compose shots, capture audio and special effects. Dragon Boat Festival at Gallup Park

The University of Michigan Center for Chinese Studies will kick off the ChinaNow Theme Year with the first ever university-sponsored Dragon Boat Festival from 10–5pm on September 30 at Gallup Park. The boats will be decorated to look like dragons with a fiery open-mouth head at the bow and a scaly tail at the stern. There's a full day's worth of events including Tai Chi, kite-making, yo-yo spinning, lion dancing, and a culinary taste of China.

The Renaissance Festival is in Full Swing!

Hear ye, hear ye! Be sure to check out the Michigan Renaissance Festival! It runs in Holly this year every weekend from August 18- September 30th and provides a day of entertainment for just about everyone! There are plenty of events, activities, and unique shopping experiences to draw in all sorts of people. This upcoming weekend features the Buccaneer Beer Fest. Argh! If you would like to attend the festivities in costume, feel free to check out one of the library's books on Renaissance clothing, such as Vecellio's Renaissance Costume Book by Cesare Vecellio.

Pick a Parks & Rec Class Online

Beginning August 20th, you can Register Online for Ann Arbor Parks & Rec classes, camps, and programs. TreeTown will be saving trees and money by printing fewer brochures (Fall/Winter 2007-2008 brochures will no longer be mailed to homes) so look for the full-color online version. While you’re on the P&R site be sure to check out the Canoe Liveries ~ Fall is the prettiest time for paddling the Huron.
