KinderConcert is back!

Meet Timothy Michling on his oboe, listen to classical piano with Kathryn Goodson and hear a story with Gari Stein in a musical celebration for young children at the Downtown Library on Friday, February 17 at 9:30 and 10:30 am. Our partnership with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra has brought thousands of children and their families to the library for music appreciation over the past several years.OboeOboe

Dental Screening Day!

On Saturday, February 4th, the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and the Washtenaw District Dental Society will be providing a free Dental Screening day. This is happening at the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and will close after the first 100 participants have registered. Children ages 5-12 years welcome but must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

2012 Caldecott and Newbery Awards Announced

The two biggest awards in the world of children's literature were announced last Monday.
A Ball for Daisy, written and illustrated by Chris Raschka won the Caldecott Medal for best illustrated book. This is the second Caldecott Medal for this talented illustrator.
He also won the Medal in 2006 for the illustrations of Norton Juster's The Hello, Goodbye Window.

Author Jack Gantos won the Newbery Medal for his book Dead End in Norvelt. This award is for best children's book published in the previous year.

Silly Stories Returns!

Greg and Laura will be telling and singing and clapping with goofy stories and songs on December 28 at 2 pm at the Downtown Library for a silly storytime. Can a little boy from Italy trick a big slimy ogre? Can a grumpy bachelor find his true love through magic? Join us for good old fashioned family fun!
