Write Your Memoir with Sally Lawler

If you have been thinking about writing your memoir, and are fifty or above, this is the time! Register now by calling 327-4560 for the free 8-week workshop, Reconstructing Life Stories, starting Jan. 17 at 1:00-3:00 (Group 1) or 3:00-5:00 (Group 2). Past participants praise social work librarian Sally Lawler for creating a comfortable atmosphere, where they feel safe to read their thoughts to the small group and to receive helpful suggestions and encouragement. AADL has several books that can help you start keeping a journal and learn more about how to write your life story.

If you're thinking about starting a business you can get a some great help by attending the 'Start Your Own Business' Boot Camp at Washtenaw Community College on May 31. At this forum you will learn about personality traits that impact entrepreneurialism, create a marketing plan for your business, learn about legal, accounting, franchises, business plans and financing options. You will receive one on one counseling with a business expert and have an opportunity to get advice from a variety of business experts and organizations that are available to support new ventures. Thinking of starting a business? Get help from SBTDC

Small Business

If you're thinking of starting your own business and are looking for information, counseling, resources and other help the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center is a great place to start. The organization has local offices in Ypsilanti and at Washtenaw Community College. Their knowledgable staff presents regular workshops on starting a business called 'Vision to Reality' at several area locations (on Tuesday, April 3rd from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce, 425 S. Main St. and on Tuesday, April 17th from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at the Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce. 301 W. Michigan Avenue). There is a $30 fee. Genealogical Society to hold session on writing your life story

Have you ever thought of writing stories from your life or compiling an autobiography? The next meeting of the Washtenaw County Genealogical Society will feature Stephanie Kadel Taras, a professional personal biographer, speaking on "One Story at a Time" in a hands-on workshop designed to inspire individuals to craft their own life stories. The program, which is open to all, will take place at the Education Center Auditorium, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Campus, 5303 Elliott Drive, Ypsilanti on Sunday, March 25, 2007.
