Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled
The Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled @ Ann Arbor District Library will begin service on January 5, 2009.
To apply for service or to request materials between November 10, 2008, and January 5, 2009, patrons should contact the Library of Michigan Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped at 1-800-992-9012. Hours of service:
Monday and Thursday 1 pm - 5 pm
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9 am - 5 pm

The WLBPD @ AADL will loan books, magazines, and videos in alternative formats (recorded cassette, Braille, descriptive video) to individuals in Washtenaw County who are unable to read or use printed materials due to a physical disability (blindness, macular degeneration, paralysis, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, dyslexia, etc.). The WLBPD will be part of the National Library Service (NLS) network.
AADL holds collections of Books on CD, Books on Cassette, and Large Type materials. AADL also owns BOCD, BOC, and Large Type materials for children and BOCD, BOC, and Large Type materials for teens, as well as offering a full schedule of programs for children and teens. Other resources include our collection of ebooks/eaudio/evideo, Tumblebooks Library of animated picture books for children to read or listen to, BiFolkal Kits, the Museum Adventure Pass program, and our ever-growing collection of Podcasts of library events, available through iTunes or via any RSS Aggregator (iTunes is required for library podcasts). This year's Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Reads Finalists are all available via the Washtenaw County Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled. The AADL provides Homebound Delivery of all materials.
