Lost in Library Land?

Are you new to Ann Arbor or the USA? We would be happy to give you or your group a library tour. Call 327-8311 at least two weeks before your requested date. These tours can be very helpful for English language learners who want to utilize what Ann Arbor District Library has to offer, like My Account and our awesome Research Pages. Need more Education or Training?

Washtenaw County etcs is hosting and Educational Fair on Monday, June 8 from 1pm to 3pm at the Michigan Works! Service Center in Ypsilanti. The attending schools will be University of Phoenix, International Truck Driving School, Washtenaw Community College, and Cleary University. AFLAC will also be attending as a featured employer.

Want to outshine your competition when you apply for a job? At the first session of this workshop (Tuesday, June 9th, 10-11 am), you will learn the secrets to a great cover letter. This class will cover formatting, style and most importantly--content! Learn how doing just a little research about your potential employer will put you ahead of the rest!

At the second session (Wednesday, June 10th, 10-11 am), participants will create a cover letter that incorporates targeted company research that will put your application on the top of the pile! Please note: You must be registered for the first session on June 9th to attend the second session on June 10th. Register online now or call 327-4555.

Learning is a Family Thing!

The "Learning is a Family Thing" (LIFT) Program is a series of interactive sessions designed to enhance family, health, financial, and workplace skills for everyone in the family. The upcoming session at AADL is called Dollars and Sense, which focuses on credit management, budgeting, and financial smarts for all ages. There will be activities for the whole family, prizes, raffles, and giveaways, and snacks and drinks will be provided. Join us on Sunday, June 7 from 2 to 4 pm on the fourth floor of the downtown library.

Consider attending Washtenaw Community College's "Winning the Job Search Race" employer panel on Tuesday, June 9 from noon to 1:20pm at the Cranes Liberal Art Building, room 175. The panel is made up of local employers who will give insights on what they look for in resumes, applications, and cover letters, as well as what they think is important in interviews, and much more! Visit the Detroit Artists Market

Take a trip to the Detroit Artists Market for the 2009 All-Media Exhibition. The show kicks off DAM’s spring season with a juried exhibition of contemporary art by 48 Detroit and Michigan artists. The exhibition will be on display until June 6. Since 1932 the Detroit Artist Market has been rooted in the history of Detroit art and culture, and continues today to be a community organization promoting contemporary art. As a bonus, check out a Museum Adventure Pass before you go and get a 10% discount on DAM merchandise.
