This book is just your average mystery.
The reason it probably became so popular is the fact that the main character is female, implied autistic, intelligent, and highly sexualized. I was actually very excited to read it because of that, but unfortunately I feel that her character was written very poorly. Plus the author didn't seem to know much about technology, which was sad because she's supposed to be a techie. I would make a better "female hacker" than her, sorry.
Trigger warning for sexual violence.
