The Light Between Oceans was a fantastic, heartbreaking read. A couple who lives on one of the islands far off the coast of Australia and tends to the lighthouse there in the early 1900s is unable to have children. After her third miscarriage, the woman slips into a deep depression. At this point in time, a lifeboat washes up on the shore with a dead man in it and a young (alive) baby. What happens from then on seems inevitable, but grips readers until the bitter end. M.L Stedman is a wonderful writer and tells this poignant story with skill and grace. I would highly recommend this novel to anyone and everyone: readers of all genres, of all ages, and of all interests!
