A Tale of Desire and Fleeting Love

Carlos Fuentes' style of writing was the main attraction for me in this book. While the story itself was engaging, it was also one that kept me from sympathizing with the main characters. The main character, a writer, uses his "artistic" needs as an excuse for running away with a Hollywood actress. There are claims of love, but there is no real substance behind this love. Just as the title intimates, an affair with a "goddess" cannot last. Fantasy cannot support a relationship for long.
