A Good Read

As an adult who enjoys reading young adult novels, I was drawn to this book due to its subject matter. I tend to shy away from YA that sounds like a love story, or is narrated by a fairy, but I couldn't pass up a Peter Pannish story that was getting good reviews.

Yes, you read that correctly, it is narrated by the famous Tinker Bell. I didn't know that until I started reading, and if I had known it, I probably would not have wanted to read it-- I'm that stubborn. But I'm glad I did! I really like the story of Peter Pan and I enjoy the various adaptations that have made into film. I hadn't read any though.

Jodi Lynn Anderson's Tiger Lily tells the story of the romance between Peter Pan and Tiger Lily. It's well written, nicely paced, and a quick read. I really enjoyed being back in Neverland with the Lost Boys, Peter, Wendy, Smee, Hook, and Tiger Lily. I like the idea of Neverland, and that perhaps each of us is still really a child deep down. It's the magical sense of wonder I'm drawn to.

In short, it's a nicely written teenage love story with a big of high adventure involving crocodiles and pirates. Don't let Tink fool you.
