I love Ursula K. LeGuin so I reserved this book from another library without realizing it's appropriate reading for a 2nd grader. It's a really cute book and I enjoyed it despite being more than three times the target age.
Make Your Own Drop Spindle (and Learn to Spin Yarn!)
Drop spinning is an ancient craft that uses simple materials to make a spindle that spins sheep's wool or other fibers into yarn. Using wooden dowels and recycled CDs, you can make your own drop spindle and learn the basics of how to spin yarn at 1 pm on Saturday, March 7 at the Malletts Creek Branch. No experience is necessary, and your finished yarn can be used in many different projects at home.
