I love Ursula K. LeGuin so I reserved this book from another library without realizing it's appropriate reading for a 2nd grader. It's a really cute book and I enjoyed it despite being more than three times the target age.
One feature of North Indian Classical music is the rhythm. These rhythms, often based on a 16-beat cycle called the tintaal, are driven by drums and Indian percussion instruments. Learn more about the drums, beats, and traditions of North Indian (or Hindustani) classical music when drummer, percussionist, and composer Dan Piccolo visits the Downtown Library at 2 pm on Saturday, April 25. He will demonstrate the tabla drums and lead interactive exercises in exploring music.
