Film & Discussion
In 2008, actor Morgan Freeman offered (for the second time) to pay for the Charleston High School prom on the condition that the event would be racially integrated. This time the school board accepted the offer. Filmmaker Paul Saltzman chronicles the history-making event in his film Prom Night in Mississippi (not rated). The film will be screened at the Downtown Library on Thurs., Mar. 18 at 6:30 pm with a discussion led by Mr. Saltzman. This event is for Grade 9 - Adult. Cosponsored by the UM Community Scholars Program
