Whether you live and breathe Stones tunes or you've never heard any of their songs (besides Satisfaction, of course), this document of the biggest band in the world -- at the time -- on their 1969 U.S. tour stands as one of the greatest concert films of all time. Due credit goes to the Maysles directors for their pacing and structure, taking the viewer from The Rolling Stones' recording studio as they watch film of the Altamont Free Concert, to the front row at their electric Madison Square Garden show, and then into the 300,000+ crowd at Altamont speedway.

Most people remember the Altamont concert for the violence that broke out between the audience and the Hell's Angels, who were providing 'security' at the show. The chaos spilled onto the stage causing the Stones to stop playing numerous times, with Jagger pleading everyone to "be cool." 4 deaths, 4 births, many injuries, and the end of the '60s are all documented seamlessly here on film.
