Not a Complete Waste of Time

My favorite part of Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist is that it is only 90 minutes long. If it had been any longer, I would have regret the time I spent watching the movie.

Michael Cera played yet another version of George Michael Bluth from Arrested Development. Nick was Cera’s typical shambling and somewhat uptight character but with the added dimension of being a bit of a Casanova. The awkward high school student had quite the romantic episode with Norah within hours of their meeting. On top of this, his recent ex-girlfriend spent the majority of the movie in hot pursuit of him. At the same time Nick drove around with Febreeze and frequently spoke of the constant care required to maintain a vehicle. Multiple teenage girls swooning over such a boy is unbelievable.

Additionally, the plot was weak. The movie portrayed New Jersey high school students spending an entire night enjoying the New York City party scene. This is not interesting. I found it unlikely that they went to several clubs and were not once carded. Additionally, the whole crew of teenagers did not return home until the following morning and this did not seem to faze any of their parents.

On top of the fact that the characters are unbelievable and the plot is weak, the movie is not funny. Redeemably it is short; so if you want to watch an uninspiring movie about teenagers and don’t want to waste too much time, this is a good choice.
