tells of a boy and familys journey and their life in america after escaping from the oppression of the taliban in afghanistan. the boys little sister gets lost in a sea of people trying to escape and they leave without her. boy thinks it is his fault and joins photo club in hopes of winning a ticket to india, near where the family lost the little girl. also tells of the horrible ways muslims were treated after 9/11. has happy ending but is surprising.

cliff hanger

the story ends in a bit of a cliff hanger, but there is a sequel that picks up right where this book stops. very short, easy to read, makes it very clear not to go out in the middle of a hurricane :)
