Just because certain actors/actresses are typecast into the "funny" thing, it does not mean every script they do is going to be that exactly. The dvd case boasts its a 2011 film festival selection. To me, that often indicates lots of thoughtful reflection, meanings of life etc. in the film. Although it could be funny, this movie was more bittersweet. Wouldn't watch it again, but am ok with having seen it.
"I remember you...Not-so-slim Shady!"
This was really fun to watch and, at times, frighteningly ahead of its time.
I liked this way more than I wanted to. My girlfriends will laugh at me. Cheesy, nuptial-focused, 2-disc, with trailers for Lifetime Christmas films...Not signs that this was a wise use of time. But...I love Lucy, man conundrums that are not mine, and shopping! 90 min of movie right there.
At three hours long, one might not attempt to watch this. However, it went fast for me. The subject matter covered is impressive and with it: campy anime-esque humor and samurai film-esque gore that, between the two, create the extreme high highs and low lows of a movie that grabs and holds your attention.
