I read this when I was in high school and I didn't realize how profound of a topic it covered. Bradbury has written on a subject matter that will stand the test of time. Phenomenal writing and book that should be read by all.
I know this movie is meant to make fun of the war on terror but this really missed the mark. It was poorly made. I can't think of any portion of this movie that was actually funny or really actually made me rethink what they were trying to make a comedy on. It was beyond bad, and I sat through the whole movie just in case at some point it would get better but it was horrible.
This is a good book, there is no doubting that. It is filled with all the common and even obscure references of the 1980s that people who grew up in the 80s remember fondly. I loved that aspect of the book, it made me want to sit down and find all those movies, songs and various other visuals of that decade and see them for myself. I think my favorite part of the book was the game itself. How that game is described and all the aspects of it just sounds like so much fun. With that being said it drags at times but even with that the author keeps the reader engaged with all the pop references.
If you go into watching this movie thinking that you are going to see another visually appealing action movie like you saw with 300 then you may be kind of impressed but it is a long shot. The acting was terrible, the story telling was terrible and in fact rushed. It is hard to find anything right with this one. The action sequences were boring and mashed together as if a child were given the task to direct the scene and they basically told everyone to rush at each other. I was not impressed with this movie.
The show is as good as the book! If you have read the book, the show does not deviate from the book and has stays true to George Martin's vision. It is visually stunning and the actors and actresses who portray your favorite characters have done a phenomenal job. Tyrion Lannister played by Peter Dinklage has won awards for his portrayal and they are well deserved. You will not be disappointed!
