This film has some of the best art direction I've ever seen. The dissolves (transitions between scenes) are stunning. Definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of beautiful cinematography. But be forewarned, the storyline, which I took to be an extended metaphor for puberty, is very disturbing and more than a little clunky. Closest comparison I can think of is Black Swan, although I liked this much better.
Great movie for a rainy Sunday afternoon, otherwise...you could probably skip this. You might like this more than me if you liked The 5 Year Engagement (I didn't).
Keri Russell really shines in this movie. Great ensemble cast. Nathan Fillion fans will love it too.
Just be aware that, because it's HBO, it's cruder. David is so horrible and yet so endearing.
