What starts as a sweet story takes in unexpected turn. This book is far more than one would expect. You'll be challenged to answer questions about prejudice and injustice. What would you do? I didn't want it to end...
If you are interested in the local movement then this book is for you! I reread this book after 35 years and loved every moment of it. It is written with a whit not seen often and will be a fun read for an adult, too! Similar to the Rocky and Bullwinkle vein, it is thoughtful, funny, and a wonderful play on words. If you are looking for a book to read with your kids, this is it! Lessons to be learned by all in an engaging way for all readers. A definite top ten for the tween, but fun for all!
This is a story about community, passion and fierce loyalty. Charming, quirky, and a little bit heartbreaking at times, but worth 55 minutes of your time. If you like documentaries, this is a not to miss film.
This story may not be for everyone as it covers some taboo topics, but I do have to say that it is beautifully written and a compelling story. The protagonist, a chimpanzee named Bruno, tells the story of his life to where he is now. This is not your run of the mill life. Full of fun, sometimes vulgar language, but always in context. Toward the end I slowed down my reading pace as I didn't want the story to end. This is a treasure for lovers of words, animals, and stories. I truly enjoyed this piece and anxiously await the next novel from Mr. Hale.
I not sure if I'm amused, appalled or just dazed. What a dramedy. (Although that is probably not how they would bill it.) Imagine 1970's India where the mob is taking hold of Mumbai. The characters are overblown and the women are dumb, dumb, dumb. But the music dictates your emotions and somehow compels you to keep watching. In the end who cares, but the ride is kinda fun... including the poorly translated subtitles.
