My children enjoyed the story and eventually finished some of the rhyming lines. The book had a green message, which I want my children to learn. And, who doesn't like a birdthday cake with candles to blow out?
Love the illustrations that accompany a little girl's search for the right birthday dress to match her individuality. Sujean Rim is so talented with her bright and stylish watercolor drawings. Very nice.
My husband introduced me to this movie a few years ago and I enjoyed it immensely. Danny Kaye is a wonderful comedian, singer, and actor. Funny tongue twisters make me wonder how long it took him to master his lines.
A little long for a bedtime story unless your children have a longer attention span. My Kindergartener was fascinated but a bit scared since the story involved a monster who ate people. The monster is treated to kindness by his would-be prey and like the Grinch, has a change in heart. I liked the message even though the story does not have a "happily ever after" ending.
My preschool son, who loves to play soccer, really enjoyed this book. He listened carefully as I read about Sergio's ups and downs while playing soccer. Here's hoping all kids listen and practice the message of not giving up to achieve success.
