Han Solo has married Princess Leia and had three children, Anakin (named after his grandfather) and twins Jacen (son), and Jaina (daughter). Luke skywalker has married Mara Jade (a reformed smuggler, and aid to Emperor Palpatine that fell in love with Luke after meeting him during one of her missions) and they had their son, Ben Skywalker.

The Solo's have essentially retired to civilian lives, While Luke and Mara remain active in the Jedi Council. Jaina is a Rogue Squadron pilot in the New Republic military, Jacen, a Jedi Knight, and Ben is training as Jacen's apprentice. The book follows these characters as they deal with trouble within the Galactic Alliance, resistance from The Corellian system, and a rift in the Jedi Order.

I felt it was easy to connect with the story since it included some well known characters that were also connected to the new characters so the transition and introduction was smooth and comfortable.

Though it does kind of seem a little like I've heard this story before.....

The series is worth the read even for just getting to know some of the old favorite characters a bit better. :)
not hearty enough

i liked this book, but i felt like there were too many people that we didn't get to know well enough, and too many situations that were mentioned in mere passing as if the author really wanted to get them into the book but never felt the need to flesh them out. ok as a light read, don't know if i'd want to read more from this author if all her books are as lacking in detail and content.
getting to know you....

This book takes place approximately 40 years after the events in the movie "Star Wars, A New Hope" and expands on the lives and stories of some of the main, and not so main but well loved, characters in the movies.

Han Solo (smuggler, scruffy looking nerf-herder, scoundrel, and old pirate) and Princess Leia Organa (daughter of Darth Vader, adopted princess of Alderaan, and sister to Luke Skywalker) have settled down and had 3 children, twins: Jacen and Jaina, and Anakin, who died in a battle during the Yuuzhan Vong War. (the 2 surviving are in this book)

Luke Skywalker (son of Darth Vader, Jedi, and brother to Leia) who has also settled down, with Mara Jade (former assassin and smuggler for the Emperor himself turned good after going rogue due to her masters death) has also had a child, Ben Skywalker (Jedi apprentice under Jacen Solo)

You learn that before becoming the galaxy's most feared and respected Bounty hunger, Boba Fett (Mandalorian warrior and bounty hunter, cloned son of Jango Fett, and foe to Han Solo) had married Sintas Vel (a female Kiffar from the planet Kiffu, who became a bounty hunter at a young age) and had a daughter named Ailyn Vel but was forced to abandon his wife and child after a conflict with his superior officer. Now, plagued by his ailing health, Fett goes on the hunt for the one being that can help and during what might be his last hunt, he meets his granddaughter, Mirta Gev and learns things about himself that don't fit with even his own view of himself.

I love that aadl carries the Omnibus books. it's a great way to read all the comics in a series at once.
sweet...pun intended.

This book was cute, but not too fluffy. it has some cheesy humor, and some serious subjects as well as touching moments. I thought it dealt well with the "family problems" and "children of separated parents" issues, but I didn't think it got as in depth as I might have liked. same with almost all the other subjects it covered. I kinda of think the author tried to bring in a few too many subjects and didn't have enough room in the 200 some page book to expand much, but I still enjoyed it. nice light read. I also like that it listed the cupcake recipes at the end of the book (always a plus)
