I love love love this movie. It's semi-based on one of my darling childhood fairy tale retellings, The Frog Princess by E. D. Baker, and while not much of that tale is evident in the movie, it's totes still worth it. I love the jazz soundtrack, the flapper fashion, and the roaring twenties feel. Enjoy!
Not Close to the original story, but enjoyable.

For those of you fairy tale buffs and retelling lovers, this movie's plot is definitely a bit far from the original. But, the new elements are cuter and much more Disney magical. The colors, Rapunzel's demeanor, and Gothel's 1D character are all in sync. I would definitely recommend it. :)
The book was better.

I was really super looking forward to this movie because I adored the book and sort of love David Levithan's work. However, the vulnerability of the novel was lost in translation. READ THE BOOK. It's better.
There is a reason this movie isn't a favorite.

While this movie is quirky and cute - well, Mary is quirky and cute - it is slow and flat and not funny. There isn't really a romance, and the circumstances of the film are a bit too, bizarre. So... if you're utterly bored, watch it. Otherwise, go ride a bike.
Eh.

This series is good enough for me to have followed it through to the 3rd book, but not good enough to rant about.
