While I am used to far fetched scenarios when murder mysteries are written, this is beyond all credibility. Don't let the better than average cast confuse you into thinking this is a good movie. It isn't.
I'm sorry, but this info is misleading. While there are all the extras - there are no movies in this dvd. There is a documentary/interview with Mickey Rooney and trailers and songs, but the 4 films I wanted to see are no where on this dvd.
Finally an Pride and Prejudice homage that is all that you want it to be. I love Pride and Prejudice. I know I am not alone. In my quest to fill my Pride and Prejudice need I have succumbed to some horrible adaptations and sequels. This one honors the source material and is worthy to be added to Austen lore. Amanda Price is a 21st century London bank clerk who finds herself time traveling back to Georgian England. When she finds herself in the Bennet household she is ecstatic that she is "at the beginning of the story!" So are we. Soon characters and situations are not falling into place and Amanda finds that she has to direct the action. Jane must marry Bingley and Darcy must fall in love with Elizabeth. Amanda knows her Austen and she won't accept anything else. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Bennet is loose in 21st century London. This is witty and wonderful. I especially loved the Colin Firth jokes. This will soon be added to my permanent collection.
Who wouldn't want to read more about the most intriguing and romantic characters from English Literature? I did and hoped for a good read. This was not the case. If you are a fan of Austen and Pride and Prejudice - be forewarned. You cannot "unremember" some of this stuff. I wish I could. If you are a fan of Romance Lit and haven't read Pride and Prejudice - then this could be a fun escape, despite the faux Georgian language. The 2 stars are for you alone. In a nutshell, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy have lots of sex. Lots. Bad puns abide and you will be amazed at the authors ability to pen a gazillion euphemisms for male genitalia. That horrible sound you hear is Miss Austen spinning in her grave. Leave this one alone.
A friend recommended this to me as she knew I was a fan of Pride and Prejudice and the other Gaskell novel - Cranford. This is a great romance with many parallels to Mr. Darby and Elizabeth Bennet. While Austen's masterpiece surrounds her story with social mores and wit - this romance is played out against the Industrial Revolution and the the class warfare of mid 19th century Great Britain. It is wonderfully acted and filmed. I plan on it becoming a permanent edition to my home library.
