If you haven't read the books, it's probably a decent action/romantic comedy. If you have read the books, you might not like all the casting choices or changes made to characters. I was most disappointed in how Ranger was portrayed.
Before watching, I thought the movie was going to be more gory and scary. I didn't realize it was a tender love story. It was sweet and cute with a little bit of gore.
I don't understand what all the hype was about the book either. It had an interesting premise, but just went on and on and on. I thought it would never end, and then when it did, I hated the ending. The characters are unlikeable, except for Nick's sister, Go. Maybe Flynn should write a book about her.
Harris writes a good mystery with interesting characters. This book was a bit of a slow read for me, as compared to the author's other books. I was hoping for more in the story about the psychic nature of Manfred. I'd recommend waiting for the next book before reading this one. That way you'll have two stories and may feel satisfied. At the end of this book, I was left feeling like there needed to be more.
I enjoyed this series more in the earlier books. Now that Helen and Phil are married, I'm finding that I don't really like Phil that much, which is making Helen less likable for me as well. That said, it's a quick mystery, with its basis in the world of show cats. It's fine, but I prefer Viets' Mystery Shopper mystery series.
