"Be Careful What You Wish For" picks up after the cliffhanger ending of "Best Kept Secret" and dives back into the lives of the Clifton family, now in the 1960's. Emma and Harry are leading happy and successful lives in London but trouble, as always, is coming. Not my usual style of books but I L-O-V-E everything by Jeffrey Archer, especially the ongoing saga of the Clifton/Barrington clan, now in it's third generation (at least!). You MUST read the earlier ones - I am so attached to these characters that I was in tears in the first 20 pages. In typical Archer style, ends with yet another huge cliffhanger - can't wait for the next one!
An entertaining crime-solving story with a droll protagonist. Spenser is hired as a bodyguard for a Feminist (with a capital F) author who's received death threats. Soon Ms. Wallace is kidnapped and Spenser is in pursuit. Good story with a sense of humor.
Really good story! Entertaining and fast paced with lots of twists and turns. Corte works for a classified federal office charged with protecting people targeted for murder or kidnapping. No one is sure why this family is being targeted, and this time, the "lifter" (kidnapper) has connections to his past. The author incorporates game theory into the strategy, giving an interesting perspective. I'll be putting Jeffery Deaver on my "regular reading" list.
I really enjoyed this story. Not of the Harry Bosch series, but has at least one familiar face. Jack is a newspaper writer trying to find his brother's killer. A real page-turner with a compelling, fast-moving plot.
Funny, rambling, train of thought from the perspective of a neurotic actress in rehab and trying to figure herself out without drugs. The second voice (Alex the cokehead) is hilarious. Lots of drug references without glorifying drug use. Entertaining and a very quick read.
