I have just finished this trilogy to a great disappointment. It started out well, then fizzled out and got boring. And then it attacked pretty much all of my moral beliefs. Just sayn'. Read it if you'd like, but let me say that I've read better.
Five stars!

One of the most well-written books I have ever read.
I was at first a little worried about the way the author wrote it with no quotation marks and I thought the accent might be a little much, but it was not. The wording flows naturally despite the fact that it was so strange, but I thought she pulled it off really well
a MILLION times better than Hunger Games

Great with the psychology!!! Usually, authors are really weak in this area and don't get the emotions/internal warfare/reaction to trauma correctly. Also a great story of change

The patterns were interesting, but some, which were I guess supposed to be different, looked really similar

This book, like the books in the rest of the series, has a sort of awkward sounding dialog. The voices of the character need more development. For example, the John Flanagan should have made the Skandians' accent, which he described himself, more obvious. At some times, Will's retorts clashes with his normal speech.
Then there's the plot. It's pretty choppy, and plus, the author stinks at romance. (SPOILER ALERT) Near the end, Alyss, who is at the time hypnotized, is about to kill Will. He saves his own life by declaring "I love you. I always have." It's very cliche, and plus it seem like it doesn't fit into the dialogue. It's like dropping a guy talking about Swiss cheese into a conversation about the affects of the S&P rating downgrade on the economy.
