I love the actresses in this movie- Chloe Sevigny, Leelee Sobieski, Jena Malone. I was excited to see this film but after watching it, reading the wiki page and the imdb page, I'm still not really sure what I just watched. I feel like I could analyze it a few different ways based on different psychoanalytical concepts, but it wasn't good enough to put forth the effort. Nice try, but way too slow and vague.
I loved this book but I couldn't get through disc one of the BOCD because of the narration. Such a shame!
I love Tilda Swinton, so when I heard she was going to be in this movie, I started reading the book. I thought the book was hard to get through mostly because of the slow pace, and I had other things to get to so I put it down and waited for the film. Well, it was just as slow. And weird, and of course the subject matter was disturbing. It caused my boyfriend to come out of his office at one point and say "What in the WORLD are you watching?" I had to admit that I wasn't exactly sure about that myself. The one thing that I did like was seeing the glamorous and confident Tilda Swinton looking like a semi-normal, stressed-out ex-housewife. Worth that to sit through the whole thing though? No way.
I was persuaded by a friend to give this book a shot. I was hooked in the first chapter. Rob Lowe does an excellent job as narrator of his life and his stories are incredible. Stories I Only Tell My Friends is a great book with MANY celebrity cameos.
This album might be good to have on in the background of a casual party (skipping the spoken meditation tracks). But I found some of the beats and music to be extremely distracting.
