introduction to ballet

This book is a good early introduction to ballet, showing the different types of clothes and shoes that are worn, getting dressed, the stretches, the 5 positions and the costumes. Nice illustrations
More intense than 30 Day Shred

"Ripped in 30" kicks it up a notch from the "30 Day Shred" DVD. There are 4 workouts, intended to be used progressively as your conditioning gets better. Each workout includes cardio, strength training (using hand weights) and abs. These workouts move quicker than the 30 Day Shred (no activity is done for more than 30 seconds) which I liked. Jillian is a little more intense in this DVD. Level 1 is not quite as easy for beginners as level 1 in the "30 Day Shred." A great workout when you don't have a lot of time.

This DVD provides 3 20-minute workouts, intended to be used progressively as your conditioning gets better (i.e. start with level 1 and then as you get in better shape, move on to level 2, then level 3). Each session covers cardio, strength training and abs in one short high energy workout. The workouts are challenging. Jillian is motivating without being obnoxious. Great for fitting in a workout when you don't have a lot of time.
colorful yet dark

Hansel and Gretel is one of the darker fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. But Rachel Isadora's wonderful illustrations brighten the book. I especially love the illustrations of Hansel and Gretel themselves. And the evil witch is quite scary looking.
A trip to the beach

This book has simple words, a gentle pace and great wood-block illustrations of Sally the black laborador on vacation at the beach (which is probably Martha's Vineyard for New England enthusiasts). A good summer book.
