I have seen this movie several times and I enjoy it every time. You really come to root for Hiccup as he tries to discover who he is. And the dragon Toothless is down right adorable. The writing is funny, the acents are great and the story carries you along to the end.
The movie is enjoyable and does a fair job of showing the author's journey in three countries over the course of a year, but much of the rich detail from the book is lost. For example, you get very little sense of why she goes to India and what she ultimately discovers about herself. I highly recommend the book.
This movie continues with some of the characters from the first two Narnia films. It is well executed with a strong enough story line to accompany the special effects.
Good acting by Bening and Moore, but I wished the film had focused more on the kids and how their relationships with their mothers changed after meeting their sperm donor "father". You get more insight into the changing dynamics of the mothers' relationship than you did the children.
The third season improves on the unique characters, clever writing and boundary pushing scenes from the first two seasons. There is nothing formulaic about this series.
